Mary’s Kitchen arrives in Destin

Mary’s Kitchen finally opens its retro doors in Destin by the end of February, replacing the old diner and providing the locals with some excellent southern cooking.

The place first started running in the 1940’s in Fort Walton Beach and after years of success, the owner, Joe Ezell focused on his dream of opening a location in Destin. Even from 2010 he realized that Destin has the perfect market for a southern taste: “Other than Cracker Barrel, there’s not really a true southern restaurant over in Destin,” he said.

For those who have had the chance to eat at Mary’s Kitchen in Fort Walton Beach, they should expect the same retro interior design, as well as the same menu and prices. The only thing the owner wants to be done differently is having fried chicken available all the time.

The restaurant’s most popular dishes on the menu are probably southern fried catfish and chicken accompanied by buttery vegetable sides and also delicious homemade pies and cakes.

Joe Ezell also specifies that the restaurant will provide around 30 to 35 jobs. Most likely the place will be open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and for breakfast and lunch on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Southern flavors will delight the locals and tourists from Destin in less than a month. “We’re looking forward to bringing something new over to Destin. We try to use the best products available and we try to be really competitive with our prices.” said the owner.
