Princess Beach Access

If you are looking to a much-secluded area with only a handful of people visiting the beach, Princess Beach Access will be your go-to. Along with Eglin Matterhorn Beach Access, these 2 are the most secluded stretches of beach you will find from Pensacola to Destin. As a result, you’ll find no vendors in the area and will require a long walk from the parking to the beach. Shower/restrooms are not available as well so be prepared to walk/drive back to your place to shower.

Admission Fee: Free

Location: 3510 Scenic Hwy 98, Destin, FL 32541

Amenities: No showers, bathrooms, or pavilions at this location.

Parking:  Parking spaces

O’Steen Public Beach Access

O’Steen Public Beach Access is a favorite among locals and well-informed visitors alike. It is located along Gulf Shore Drive and one of the best spots to reach Destin Jetties. It is a great place for those with a lot of beach gear looking to spend all day on the white sand! Keep walking towards the Jetties to find yourself in a much more quiet area. This access is fantastic because you can walk to the beach along the Destin East Pass or keep trekking a bit further and enjoy a much more quiet beach along the Gulf of Mexico to the east of the jetties.

Admission Fee: Free

Location: 320 Gulf Shore Dr, Destin, FL 32541

Amenities:There is a shower, but no onsite restrooms or pavillions.

Parking:  Limited Parking and a long walk to the beach

Tarpon Street Beach Access

This beach access has nearby parking, but can be accessed on foot. The stretch of beach that you will find yourself on after traversing the boardwalk is serene with plenty of space to spread out. Expect crowds to be moderate to high at this location because of its accessibility and the fact that the neighborhood of Crystal Beach is close by. If you need a shower station to rinse off before heading back after a day at the beach, this location has you covered with a nice foot wash and outdoor shower available for use. This access is easy to get to, but parking is scarce from the early morning through the remainder of the day and there are around 18 steps down to the beach on this boardwalk.

Admission Fee: Free

Location:3300 Scenic Hwy 98, Destin, FL 32541, United States

Amenities: This access has a shower and a boardwalk to the beach, but there are no restrooms.

Parking: There are only two small parking lots of around 10 spaces each within walking distance. It is strongly encouraged to walk or ride-share to this access.

“MONEY! MONEY! MONEY!” That was the answer from our Facebook follower when asked why she doesn’t start planning out for her Destin dream getaway! I know – it can be so hard to plan for a trip if the budget is very limited. Traveling can be so expensive but the cost can be lower down if we use the right strategy and, of course, if we carry a bag of self-discipline for our travels. Here are some tips on how we can save money while actually spending money.

  • Flight Promos. Traveling via air usually costs us a fortune. Don’t fret, most airlines do offer flight promos more than twice a year. It would be best if you can subscribe to different airlines and be updated when a good deal comes up! They may spam your inbox, but hey, what’s that if it means saving dear money on your future travel!

  • Travel in the off-season. Sure most of us wanting to travel over the holiday or summer break so we can be with the ones we love. But then, we can’t deny the fact that these are the times of the year when travel gets to be so expensive. Flight fares are extremely high and vacation rentals are most likely overbooked! If a little flexible maybe you can consider traveling during the offseason,  this may not just save you money, it also releases you from the stress of rush hour travels and to be in a less crowded beach. These are the off-season months in Destin; late spring (March until late of May), late summer (mid-August to Labor Day), September – mid-November, and Winter (December – February).

  • Book for Condos/Homestays rentals. While it’s really great to stay in a hotel, you can definitely save more with condos/apartment rentals! Not just because the rates are lower, but you can also definitely get rooms with kitchenettes available to cook. Rather than dining out on each meal, going out for groceries and cook it within the rental is also very ideal. Staying and share spendings with friends will lessen the cost too!

  • Happy Hour. Taking advantage of happy hour specials will save you big for drinks or appetizers! You can definitely buy more for less, but of course, with moderation. Make a list of great bars in Destin and know when they are doing the happy hour by downloading Destin Shines app.

  • Start with your daily routines. This happens before traveling to your destination. Saving money starts with reducing your spending habits and cutting out unnecessary expenses. Tracking your daily and monthly expenses will be much helpful and next thing you know you are on your way to Destin in less than a year!

You really don’t have to be rich or have a bank account that’s bursting with digits. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is how you have given your self a well-deserved break – may it be exploring all by yourself or spending it with your friends and loved ones!

To make the most out of your stay in Destin, do not forget to check out our page for real-time information of great attractions to see, recommended places to dine-in and events with free admission.

Safe travels!

The Emerald Coast Theatre Company will convert its performance space at 560 Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach into a psychedelic music hall for a special one-night-only performance of live music for the exclusive benefit of their capital campaign.

On Friday, July 12, let’s all witness a night full of love, music, and peace with New York-based dynamic entertainment duo Jordan Wolfe and Michelle Dowdy and take us to the ultimate ‘60s rock journey.

Jordan and Michelle will be lovingly recreating the iconic songs of 1967 which was considered by some as the greatest year ever for music or the “Summer of Love”. This energetic tribute will pay homage to the likes of The Beatles, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, The Monkees and more.

Michelle Dowdy is a MAC Award winner and a nightlife favorite who first took New York by storm as Tracy Turnblad in the Broadway production of “Hairspray,” racking up over 400 performances. She has gone on to play the role internationally and with Dallas Theatre Center. She also co-conceived and starred in the West Coast premiere of the circus/burlesque musical extravaganza “The Girlie Show. “Her acclaimed debut solo album “A Brass Act” is available on iTunes.

Jordan Wolfe is an actor/singer as well as a composer and arranger. His New York credits include lead roles at New York Classical Theatre, Musicals Tonight, Theatre for a New City, Prospect Theatre, The Duke Theatre on 42nd, Theater Row and NYMF. He was recently in the original Off-Broadway casts of two acclaimed new musicals: “Neurosis” and “Night of the Living Dead: The Musical,” which he also wrote. Wolfe has appeared on stage at more than 15 regional theaters, and his TV credits include “Law & Order” and “S.P.L.A.S.H” for PBS.

Tickets cost $40 per person. Through this, we can help raise funds for the ECTC’s  $125,000 capital campaign for their educational and professional programs.

ECTC is a company founded by Anna and Nathanael Fisher in 2012. This non-profit professional theater has a mission to enrich and entertain the Emerald Coast community through professional and educational theater. ECTC has become a professional theater company and established itself focused on staging thought-provoking productions, festivals and creative collaborations as well as a valued community resource for professional acting, educational theatre for children, and theatre for young audiences.

We all know that more people come to Destin for beaches, shopping, and fishing during the day. But don’t you think that this place can also give you a great experience even after the sun sets? Yes, Destin has a lot of fun and interesting to do even at night. Sure that a whole day spent at the beach can be so tiring already but saving a little energy for the night will be so much worth it.

Here are some of the Top Things to Do in Destin at night.

Concert Series

Every year there are weekly series being held in some areas of Destin, Okaloosa Island, and Fort Walton Beach. Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation held live concerts in the village with some of the great bands and artists that will suit your every genre of music like country, rock, reggae, R&B, pop, jazz, and more. If you’re here in Destin by September-October, you’re sure to catch them performing every Thursday night. There are Saturday night concerts too at Harborwalk Village and Rock the Docks all summer long.

Who would not fall in love with all the beautiful lights and colors illuminating the night sky? If you’re such a great fan of fireworks, Destin has fireworks at different nights that it’s impossible not to find anything that fits your schedule. Every Tuesday, find your way to The Village of Baytowne Wharf and be thrilled with the spectacular fireworks display of Boomin’ Tuesdays! If Tuesday doesn’t work for you, head on to Harborwalk Village every Thursday to witness their picturesque fireworks show with Firespinning to follow on the main stage.

Bonfires on the Beach

Setting up a bonfire at the beach while cooking hotdogs and roasting s’mores is something you would be excited to do with family and loved ones.   Just note that permits may be required, however, there are bonfire services around who arrange bonfire activities and packages like Bonfire Guy, Beach Bonfires 30A and The Rental Shop 30 A. They will certainly help you avoid all the hustles of processing permits and what to drink or eat and rather spend a night of great talks and laughs.

Nightlife and Live Music

Nothing beats ending a long tiring day at the beach with a bottle of beer at the local bar. Whether you want to just chill and listen to live music or maybe dance like there’s no tomorrow, there are so many local bars and dance clubs in Destin you can get to enjoy. The night is always young for the local and tourists going here.

These are just some of the few suggestions for the things you can do at night in Destin. If you wish to be updated with all the nightly happenings, feel free to check Upcoming Events and hope you’ll have one of the most unforgettable night to remember.
